Birth Doula Support in West Sussex & Surrey

Working with Chantal was an absolute pleasure. She consistently acted as a thoughtful sounding board when we needed one and was unwaveringly supportive of our ideas. She held space for us when it mattered most, offering reassurance without ever being overbearing. We truly believe that the birth we experienced would not have been the same without her wisdom and guidance. Throughout the entire journey, we felt safe, supported, and free to be ourselves, allowing us to focus fully on welcoming our baby into the world. We are incredibly grateful for her support.

How you will feel when hiring me as your Birth Doula

Birth doula support that puts you at the centre!

Picture stepping into your birth feeling calm, capable and truly ready, not just wishing for a positive experience, but feeling secure in the knowledge that you’ve prepared for this moment. That you’re surrounded by people who respect and support you. That you’re in control making informed decisions for your baby and your body.

No matter how your birth unfolds, you’ll be able to look back and say with certainty:

“That was mine. I did that. I owned every moment.”

While many approach birth with 'going with the flow', hoping it all works out, you’re choosing something different. You know birth isn’t just something to get through, it’s a profound, life changing experience that deserves to be met with clarity, confidence and care.

  • You’re not looking for one size fits all advice.

  • You want to feel grounded and informed as labour begins calm, prepared and sure of yourself.

  • You want someone in your corner who truly listens, understands your needs and supports you without judgement.

  • You want to look back on your birth with pride, knowing every choice was made from a place of strength, love and trust in yourself.

Choose to go with your body and baby's FLOW, not the hospital FLOW.

What sort of a Birth Doula am I?

I believe that your birth experience is deeply personal and my role is to support you in exactly the way you need, I'm on your team. I don't work for anyone else, I'm not beholden to hospital policies or shifts and as your birth doula, I don't go "off shift." I don't advocate for a certain type of birth, hospital, home, vaginal, or caesarean, I advocate for POSITIVE birth and that looks different for every person. Birth is unpredictable and while you'll see many healthcare professionals along the way, I'll be your constant. I won't make decisions for you or tell you what to do, you don't need any more of that! I trust in your body's wisdom and your ability to bring your baby into the world, while I offer encouragement, comfort measures and support.

Let's make it amazing!

Birth Doula Support for You and Your Birth Partner in West Sussex & Surrey

As your birth doula, I don't replace your birth partner, I strengthen your unit.

I work with your partner throughout labour and birth, encouraging their role and presence, while bringing a quiet confidence that supports you both, no matter how your birth unfolds.

Birth can be unpredictable. When plans change, I'm there to explain what's happening, help you process your options, and ensure your choices are heard and respected. Your birth partner no longer has to navigate those moments alone.

I offer reassurance, practical guidance, and a calm presence that allows them to stay fully focused on you and when they need to step out for a moment, you will never be without support.

Together, we support you as a unit. Your partner stays present, informed, and connected not on the side lines.

My husband also found Chantal’s support extremely helpful. Especially as we were choosing a home birth.

Sophie Stratton

I had positive pregnancies and hospital births with the knowledge I had at the time. Since then, I have found birth very interesting and I have learned so much through my research, working with professionals, and supporting pregnant people experiencing birth alongside them. Knowledge is power and I fully embrace people’s choice of where they choose to birth their baby. I listen and provide relative research, so you feel informed and empowered when making your birth decisions.

Adding Hypnobirthing to your Tool Kit

Have you ever thought about how a Hypnobirthing Course could support your birth?

When you learn how your brain and body work together during labour, how your hormones support every stage, how your breath becomes your anchor through every surge something shifts. You stop seeing birth as something to endure, and start trusting it as something your body already knows how to do.

Because when fear is replaced with knowledge, everything changes.

Home Birth Team: The homebirth team midwives will care for you during your pregnancy from the point that you have chosen homebirth as your preference and aim to get to know you well before we are with you during labour. SASH Home Birth Instagram

Birth Centre: Three birth rooms, each with a pool and ensuite facilities.

Delivery Suite: Their delivery suite is staffed by a team of midwives, maternity support workers, obstetricians, neonatologists and anaesthetists, all working in close collaboration to ensure every mother and baby receives care throughout their birth journey.

Planned Caesarean Birth: The Evergreen Midwifery Team is a small team of midwives and nurses who will meet you at your caesarean birth.

As your birth doula, I am welcomed onto all of the consultant led maternity units across Brighton, Haywards Heath, Worthing and Chichester.

  • You will find 2 birth pool rooms in the Midwife Led Units at St. Richards Hospital, Chichester and Princess Royal, Haywards Heath.

  • On all the labour wards, you will find them well-equipped with balls and mats to support an active birth and some rooms have birthing pools. They have full medical, obstetric, neonatal and anaesthetic care available around the clock, so you can focus on your birth experience.

I have worked along side midwives from the UHSussex Home Birth Team and giving birth at home can be a deeply empowering and intimate, allowing you to labour in a familiar environment supported by your birth team and have the comforts of your own space. Without the clinical setting of a hospital, many people find they feel more relaxed and in control, which can have a positive impact on how their labour progresses. You will have the dedicated one-to-one attention of a midwife throughout, and as your doula I can be there alongside you, providing continuous, calm support.

FAQs Asked By Previous Clients:

As your birth doula I would provide continuous physical, emotional and informational support throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth across West Sussex and Surrey. I help you prepare during pregnancy, stay by your side throughout your entire labour (no shift changes), and support you in those first precious hours after birth. I'm there to help you feel calm and informed, supporting both you and your birth partner.

Midwives provide medical care. Monitoring you and baby and managing clinical aspects of birth. I provide non-medical support, helping you stay comfortable, supporting your choices and ensuring you feel heard and respected.

I help your partner feel confident and capable by showing them practical ways to support you. They can focus on being emotionally present while I handle the practical support. Many partners say having a doula made them feel they had the confidence to actively get involved, along with comfortably taking a break knowing I was there by your side.

As you birth doula my role is to ensure you're informed about your options so YOU can make an informed decision.

Even before your official on call period, I'm contactable and will do everything possible to be there for you. We'll discuss this during our antenatal sessions so you know exactly what to expect.

Yes! I support all birth environments in West Sussex and Surrey. Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, or birth centre, I'm there for you, supporting you in your chosen environment.

We'll explore your birth preferences and options, discuss pain management techniques, practice positions and breathing, talk through what labour might look like, prepare your birth partner, address any fears or concerns, and create a birth preferences document together. It's completely tailored to what YOUR wishes are.

All my birth doula packages include support for the 2-3 hours after birth. My Enhanced and Premium Birth Doula Packages include 6-9 hours postnatal support, while you settle in at home. If you'd like additional postnatal support at home, I offer separate postnatal doula packages, which can be arranged.

That's exactly what our antenatal sessions help with! We'll explore all your options together so you can make informed decisions about what feels right for you and which hospitals are in the West Sussex and Surrey area that you could register with and understand the birthing environments they support.

I'm there to support you and your birth partner, not intrude. I read the room, respect your space, and provide exactly the level of support you need in each moment. Importantly I know when to step aside when/if you and your partner need time together.
