AromaTOUCH Massage

New motherhood asks so much of the body and the nervous system, often with very little space to simply rest. The AromaTOUCH Technique is a gentle, deeply calming treatment that combines targeted touch with doTERRA essential oils to help you feel grounded, supported, and cared for, whether you're weeks into the fourth trimester or simply craving a slower nervous system.

Unlike a deep tissue or sports massage, AromaTOUCH uses a light, rhythmic touch along the back and feet for new mums who may still be tender, healing, or simply want to stay close to baby.

What is the AromaTOUCH Technique?

The AromaTouch Technique was developed by Dr David K. Hill, an expert in integrative medicine, as a structured method of applying eight pure essential oils along specific points on the back and feet. The sequence works through four phases, each built around a pair of oils chosen for a particular purpose, settling the mind, supporting the body, soothing tension, and gently invigorating, followed by a closing lymphatic movement.

It isn't a conventional massage. The pressure is light rather than deep, so the focus stays on the combined effect of touch and aroma rather than working into muscle tissue. Many people find they don't feel the need to shower afterwards, as the oils continue to work on the skin for hours after the session ends.

I trained in this technique using doTERRA essential oils and now offer it as a standalone service, alongside its place within my birth and postnatal doula packages.

WHO IS THIS FOR

Postpartum Support in West Sussex and Surrey

  • Mums in the postpartum period wanting a gentle, restorative pause

  • Anyone experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, or a "wired but tired" nervous system

  • Those recovering from birth who aren't ready for firmer bodywork

  • Partners and support people also feeling the weight of the fourth trimester

  • Anyone who simply wants to experience calm, human touch without pressure

*Sessions can be arranged while baby is sleeping nearby, so you don't need to plan around childcare.

What happens during your 1 hour session: the five phases

1. Relaxation Phase

doTERRA Balance and Lavender begin the session, settling the mind and body and opening the connection between practitioner and client.

2. Supportive Phase

Tea Tree and On Guard bring a sense of comfort and immune support.

3. Soothing Phase

The AromaTouch blend and Deep Blue work together to ease tension and bring relief through the back.

4. Invigorating Phase

Wild Orange and Peppermint are applied together on the back and feet, gently uplifting energy as the session begins to close.

5. Lymphatic Movement

No oils are used here; this final movement signals the close of the session and supports the body's own natural processes.

AromaTOUCH Massage FAQ

AromaTOUCH uses light pressure rather than deep tissue work, and follows a fixed sequence of oils and movements rather than working into specific muscle knots. It's about the nervous system and whole-body wellbeing rather than physical release.

Yes, it's a popular choice precisely because the pressure is so gentle. As with any postnatal treatment, I will provide you with a consent form accepting the application of doTERRA essential oils.

With AromaTOUCH we only use a small amount of peppermint at the end of the treatment. We can remove the peppermint application, taking an individual review. Once your breastfeeding is established (6-8 weeks) the small amount used wouldn't effect supply as the oil isn't continued. If you would like to learn more about establishing breastfeeding, have a look at my Establishing Breastfeeding Workshop.

Yes they may. If you feel calmer and relaxed with them being close by, then that works for me.
